The name Kuala Lumpur has long been known by both Rita and I, maybe as far back as to have been learned about during our school days. But exactly what we learned about it back then is anybodies guess, even so the name has stuck and the thought of going to visit constitutes an achievement. There are so many places in this world that we hear or learn something about, places that mean little or nothing unless we are able to visit them. To see the sights, mingle with the people and experience a little of their culture all forge memories which in turn create a reality within us. No longer is this place just a dot or name on a map, something we have heard something about somewhere along life's road.

Our trip to Kuala Lumpur had it's purpose, in order to stay in Thailand and work we needed to acquire a special visa which can only be issued by a Thai Embassy outside of Thailand. So armed with the necessary documents issued by the Minister of Education in Thailand we traveled to Malaysia to secure the needed visa.

During our short visit we managed to do a little sightseeing, shopping and talk with several people from different countries all of which were interesting. As for Kuala Lumpur itself, I had read that it was a cross between Bangkok and Singapore. No surprises there, and I can now concur with that statement having seen for myself. But that does not imply that Malaysia is not worth a visit, especially for it's natural beauty as a country.

We are back in Chiang Mai after successfully obtaining the necessary visa's. Unfortunately we have experienced some problems with our ears. Hearing and balance mainly, which we have determined are probably due to incorrect cabin pressure on the plane and hopefully will be temporary. On the good side the weather in Chiang Mai as finally started to cool down, something we have been waiting for. But with the cool down will come the Monsoons, which will be another new experience for us. Judging by the weather reports from England you folks back there have had quite an experience with heavy rains lately and so might be able to equate to what the next few months will be like for us, with the exception that it will be much warmer here.
